On the corner of High and Lauderdale Streets is the Peebles-Wilson-Eadon-Barran House, built in 1947 for Mrs. Withers Peebles. This charming clapboard cottage has a Federal style interior. Mrs. Peebles' grandson, Edwin Wilson, and his family moved into the house in 1975 and added another bedroom in 1981. Mr. And Mrs. Charles Eadon bought the house in 1986. Mr. and Mrs. John Barran bought the house in 2001 and made substantial changes, including a two-story addition and a courtyard behind the original house.

Around the turn of the century, John and Susan Hurn, the grandparents of Mrs. Dorothy Hagan, lived in a log house on this site. Later, Dr. Dinsmore had his office and home in a building on this site.
